"Exhaust,
Shocks
& Repainted
Roof"

A few months ago, someone took a fondness to Code Red's
mirrored glass roof and made away with it with a solid
red top that's been repainted black to match the sail
panels. This gave the old '85 a similar look to the '88
35th Anniversary Corvette.
Ray and Richard Matyskiel of AAA Body & Fender Works
in North Arlington, N.J., applied the color to Code Red's
new top, but only after doing some minor prep work. They
completed the job which consisted of sanding, priming,
painting and polishing the new top, in about a day. The
finished product looks as good as new and has restored
the Vette's classy image.
In the ride department, we replaced the all four shocks
with gas-charged Tokicos. This gave code Red a much smoother
ride, with improved handling and superior cornering performance
to boot. Jack Strutter of Plum Crazy in Passiac, N.J.,
performaed the installation which took just under two
hours.
For additional horsepower, we bolted on a pair of FLOWMASTER
® high-flow mufflers and new piping from the converter
back, to spark the stock 350 with some added punch. The
installation was peerformed by noted exhaust specialist
Mufflex in Trenton, N.J., and included
a custom-made Y-pipe. The mufflers chosen are a new design
from FLOWMASTER, and are much quieter than past
offerings, yet produce the same performance increase.
